Stories of Trent's Impact

Richard Carstens

"Trent was always the calmest person to be around. I really respected how any situation he remained level headed and always knew the best way to deal with life was with a calm response. I could always ask him for guidance in situations I found myself not knowing what to do. He gave me the best advice, always looking for the positives in life."

Taylah Burns

"The most influential things I'd learnt off Trent over the years and even now through his family are to be kind, don't take things or life too seriously and give what you can, whenever you can."

Sammy Fullwood

"The first time I saw Trent, I was a judge at a skate competition. Here's this little grom ripping up Beerwah skatepark with an even littler younger brother Louie, outshining everyone with their technical tricks and style.

A few years pass and I'm out street skating filming a skate video with both Trent, Louie and all their mates (Hype Squad).

I got to know his amazing family, and work ethic, watch him gain more recognition and sponsors, videos, and get the cover of SLAM skate mag. I couldn't be more proud.

To me and many more, Trent was the go-to good vibes friend, you would always feel relaxed around. He always had your back and would inspire you to get up, keep going and laugh along the way. Tbuns forever!

Jesse Schulkins

"I had the privilege of knowing Trent for near half my life and have shared some unforgettable memories that I will treasure for the rest of my days. Buns had one of the most infectious smiles and laughs I’ve ever come across and a soul as pure as gold! He had an energy which was cool calm and collective but miraculously fierce at the same time. In 15+ years of knowing Trent I struggle to remember a time I’d seen him angry or sad and whenever I think of him an image of his big grin is always at the forefront of my mind! He had the playfulness of a child but at times showed maturity that would make you think he’d lived a 1000 lives, Trent was just a genuinely good human being who was loved by all that he crossed paths with! He will be forever missed by those of us that were lucky enough to call Him a friend."

Adam Bala

"It’s incredible how much of an impact Trent had on not just myself, but everyone else around him. To me Trent was the epitome of cool, a gentleman, and an all round good bloke. The type of mate who would do anything for his friends and family, no matter how big or small it was. To this day I still look up to Trent. He makes me strive to be a better person. That’s just the effect Trent had on anyone who was lucky enough to meet him and that infectious smile."

"Trent was one of the very first friends I made when I traveled alone to Australia from the U.S. His kindness was always sincere and he welcomed me into his life with genuine friendship. I was lucky to have traveled to so many beautiful places around Brisbane and NSW because Trent always had a new spot to show me. The Maleny Swimming Hole,  camping on double Island, and climbing my first mountain with Trent and Roach are some of my favorite memories. The Hype Squad and Trent's family became my home away from home. We all even shared a Thanksgiving dinner together since I was missing the one with my family in the states. The immense love and openness shared within this group is something I will never forget, and have yet to experience again. I'll cherish the friendship and memories that I shared with Trent for the rest of my life."

Christos Zoupantis

"Trents carefree energy was infectious his relaxed nature always amazed me and made me want to be better with not worrying about the little things in life. That million dollar smile will always be imprinted on my mind he was just the most humble, giving, caring, selfless human i've ever met and it radiated through his energy! Trent you will always be with me in my heart brother! You left your mark on me and the world! ❤️Zed"

Juanita Taylor

Our & many others “Safe house” 🙏❤️… I think of you Trent & see your photo-smiling face everyday.. we will always love you. Thank you for being in our life." ❤️❤️❤️❤️

"Where do I start when it comes to explaining Trent Riley as a person? How does the true meaning of a man sound? Sounds accurate to me. Trent Riley represented every great moral that a great man inspires to be.

Discipline: The way Trent carried himself had rubbed off a lot of people, but I know that his discipline played a big factor in his close circle of friends which made everyone second guess their efforts and commitments in life for the better good. Trent gave his friends direction in themselves.

Integrity: Trent was such a person of integrity nothing would deter him once he had his mind set out. One person who couldn’t be corrupted due to him knowing his self-worth and own expectations.

Courage: If there was any obstacle blocking Trent’s success in any shape or form he would ensure the objective was completed no matter what energy was exerted. Empathy: You can understand where Trent’s heart came from once you’ve met his mother Jacky! The only person I have met other than Trent with such a big loving & caring heart, which Jacky had instilled into her family. One of the most selfless people I had ever met, which only brought Trent blessings in his life. What you put into the universe is what you get in return. Love: Trent had such a big heart and an unmeasurable amount of love to offer. You could sense this by just spending serval minutes with Trent. Such a beautiful Aura Gone but never forgotten." 🌹

"It's hard to pinpoint one good Trent story because every day was a fucking awesome day with him. I was always the one that would be angry. I was always the one who would be in a mood. He'd just be quite, then he'd say something funny or cheeky and get me out of the mood."

Curtis Hay

"It's tough to know where to start when talking about someone who has contributed so much and asked for so little in return. Authentic, pragmatic, but also super creative and an inclusive friend to all, Trent was one of the most multi-talented people I've encountered. But to me, it was the way he travelled through every situation with a cool, level head that inspired me to want to be more like him,"

Harry Pascoe

"A jack of all trades, everyone's best mate, a heart that touched us all. Trent was one of those people that just shined when you were in his presence. Everyone wanted to be around him and be like him. If he was there, you wanted to be there too. The word "legend" gets thrown around a lot these days, but he perfectly fits that picture."

Mitchell 'Mashy' Howse

"When we were younger, I remember being in the car with Buns while he was driving. I was eating something and just threw my rubbish out the window. Trent's response was nice and simple with his signature laugh, "come on, dude. We are trying to save the world, not kill it." That has always stuck with me. I'm thankful for that little voice in my head, teaching me to be kinder to our home."

John Green

"If he wanted to do something, he would. Not only would he do it the best he could, but he would also love every second of it, no matter how hard or challenging it was. Always with a smile. This is a trait I admired Trent for and one that I try to practice in my life."

Wade McLaughlin

"To say "only the good die young" has never been more true with Buns. Trent showed me , along with anyone he ever graced with his presence, how to be a better person. He did it without even trying, just by being himself. If he saw something he didn't like, he'd still see the beauty in it. He would never make it known or call anyone out if he didn't agree with something, he'd just say something like "oh yeah" with a cheeky grin and continue to lead by example. I still don't know if he was conscious of that or just did it naturally. He was also one of the hardest workers I've ever met, yet always so calm and never stressed. Everything we should strive to be."

Nathan Jackson

"As most of us already know, T-Buns was the guy that could do it all. He was the guy you would want to be and always want to be around. I'm five years older than Trent and had already looked up to him for years. He was the one."

Jesse Newnham

"Trent's love and enthusiasm for fishing every spare minute was bloody infectious. That's when Sydney Street fishing sessions started. Everyone would throw a line in and sometimes there was a barbecue. Sometimes the "fishing" would go all night and the boys would stumble home as the sun came up."

"I smile because I'm one of the lucky ones that got to just be near him regularly."

"Trent, the man. Location: Orange County, LA. Vans Skatepark. Louis and Trent hit the park and among the skaters were six African Americans.

As they skated, their tall, athletic bodies seemed as if they were dancing on their boards.

They were the shit.

As the tallest of them rolled past Trent, Trent said, "Hello, how are you doing?"

The reply was, "What you said?" in a cool way, a bond was made. Respect. The one thing skaters share is belief that the impossible is possible.

Celebration, respect, you guys rock."

Zara Riley

" I can't see him without a smile."

"Trent, I find comfort in the fact that you're looking down on us with that big goofy smile of yours and watching over us. I just want you to know that I will live my life like that it's for the two of us, and instead of me chasing after you, we will be side by side now, having the time of our lives."

Shannon Riley

"Trent was my guardian angel in physical form. and now, in spirit form. I feel he's still got my back and forever will."

"Love you, Bunna. ONE HUNNA, T-BUNNA."
